As all of you know we could not make this adoption happen without our family and friends.

We believe that this is the path that we were lead to take in our life journey.

Dear Friends and Family

As many of you know Dan and I tried adopting 2 children last year from Wisconsin. We wanted to support children here in the United States, especially right here in our community. We had 2 children placed with us for about a year and then God chose another path for the kids and us. The children went back to live with their bio mom. We still wanted to adopt but decided we couldn’t go through domestic adoption again and risk losing the children. We wondered why this would happen. Well maybe this is why….

This may be a surprise to some of you but Dan and I (Hunter and Sommer too) have decided to add to our family through international adoption. We don’t know him yet.  All we know is we are requesting an older boy age 4-7 from Africa.  We don’t know much about him but we do know this; he is living in an orphanage getting 1 meal a day 2 if he is lucky. He has yet to receive full medical attention, proper, nutritious food, a childhood that allows him to be a child and an environment where he can thrive and flourish and reach his full potential. He needs a loving family the most. He doesn’t know what it is like to be tucked in and kissed goodnight in a safe and caring home. He also doesn’t know the simple things like getting a piggy back ride from dad or sitting on his mom’s lap while she reads a story to him. He needs a loving family at the most. We all take the small things like this for granted. We can’t wait to offer the simple things in life to our new son.

We cannot wait to bring him home, to hold him in our arms, and always provide a hand for him to hold as he grows. No words can capture the true joy and excitement we feel as we anticipate the blessing of his presence in our home.

For us, the difficult part of this process - other than the waiting - is the expense. You can help us provide for him.

Doing this adoption we will incur many expenses to bring home this child, most of them relating to legal documents and travel. An international adoption will cost us around $30,000.  We plan to cover most of the expenses through our savings, working 2 jobs (summer school for Heidi and cemetery for Dan) and hopefully some grants. However these amounts will not cover all expenses so we are turning to our family and friends for support. We would like to invite you to be a part of our adoption by helping our family and especially our new child.
